On the right is the first home of the Stamford National. In the background are the Town Hall, which was erected in 1870, and Balcon's photographic studio on the opposite side of the square: The latter? was in the wooden building on the Canal St. corner now occupied by a saloon. Picture probably made in the 1870s. From the collection of Charles Lyman Hoyt in the possession of Herbert Francis Sherwood
