This text was found on back of photo: "New York, Mercantile Illustrating Co. 1894, by Mr. Charles Kurz, Feb 1955." Further description taken from "Images of America: Stamford" by Bonnie K. Bull, Arcadia Publishing, pg.127: "This is the former residence of George A. Hoyt, who built an entire area south of the railroad tracks known as Hoytville. Located on Main Street and Greyrock Place, this house was built in the 1860s...The Suburban Club was organized in 1890 and rented Mr. Hoyt's home in 1893. The club built and moved to its own building at Suburban Avenue and Main Street in 1914, where is remained until it was forced to close in 1935."
