Description

Video recording of the launch event for the inaugural Hispanic Week in Stamford, Connecticut. The event was hosted by Galdino Velasco and held at the auditorium of the main branch of The Ferguson Library on September 13, 1987. Israel Cortes was awarded the first Stamford Hispanic Man of the Year award. Isela Williams received a scholarship from Tacos Guadalajara presented by Galdino Velasco and his son.
Notable people present were: Thom Serrani, Stamford Mayor; Richard Blumenthal, State Representative for Stamford, Daniel Guido, newly elected Chief of Police; and Christel Truglia, widow of the late State Senator Anthony Truglia.
