I Peter Barriclana.n, ..o~ the County Knox and . town of Vincennes,
being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks
bet~ God, calling to mind the mortality of my ~ody . and knowing that
it is appointed .for all _men once to die Q.o make and ordain this my
Last Will and Testament, th_at is, to say principally and · first. of
a11 I give and recommend my soul i~to the hand of Almighty that
gave it and my body I recqmmend to the earth to be buryed in a
decent Christian like manner at the discretion of my ~xecutrix or
Executor, nothing doubting but at the General Resurrecti.on I shall
receive the same again by the mighty power. of . ~od And as touching such worldly estate wherewith i~ has pleased
God to bless me in this life I give, devise, and dispose of the
sai~e in the following mariner and formFirst- I give unto mY oldest son, Peter Barriclanan, the sum
of rive shilling to be paid and levied out of my estate by my
executors.
Secondly- I give unto my daughter · Barbary the sum of one
shilling sterling to be paid and levied as above.
Thirdly- I give unto my daughter Mary the sum of one shilling
sterling to be paid and levied as aboveFourthly- I give unto my son Michael the sum or one shilling
sterling, to be paid and levied as aboveFifthly- I give unto my daughter Catherine the sum of one
shilling sterling, to be paid and levied as above.

Sixthly- I give unto my son Jacob the sum of one ·shilling
sterling to be paid and levied as aboveSeventhly- I give unto my son Andrew the sum .or. one shilling

I likewise give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Elizabeth
one third of all my lands . that I shall hold in this Country and all

my movable estate shall be left in her hands during her life or
widow4ood to bring up, give schooling and maintain her children
upon and at her death that the whole of the movables shall be equally
divided amongst my four sons and two daughters that now lives in my
house with me. Nevertheless if any of the older of these six children shall want any of my mova~les that my wife can spare that they
shall have them and that said articles shall be appraised and be··
deducted out of their shares in the divident at the death of their
mother- And where.as I the said Peter Barrickman have .bought- & took
up sundry tracts of land in this ·c ountry if said land is transferred
to me and my heirs . by the Lord of the
I dispose of it in
manner and form follo~ing that is to · sayTo my wife as above wr·itten and that the second eldest of my
six children now living· with me . or any of them of an after another
as they shall stand in need shall have their shares laid . off. to them
in equal proportion as honest men shall judge chosen by my executors
for th~t purpose & and if it so happen that their only Eight hundred
shall be held that it shall be equaily divided amongst my four sons
& two daughters that now living with. me in my house, their mother
taking her share as above written and so in a less proportion, I do
also constitute my wife & my son Abraham the sole executors of this
my last Will & Testament and I do hereby disallow, revoke and dis~
anull all and every other testaments, Wills, Legacies, beques·t s and
executors Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last
Will and Testament.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand arid seal this
twenty sixth day .of Jany in the year one thousand seven hundred and
ninety one.

bet~ God, calling to mind the mortality of my ~ody . and knowing that
it is appointed .for all _men once to die Q.o make and ordain this my
Last Will and Testament, th_at is, to say principally and · first. of
a11 I give and recommend my soul i~to the hand of Almighty that
gave it and my body I recqmmend to the earth to be buryed in a
decent Christian like manner at the discretion of my ~xecutrix or
Executor, nothing doubting but at the General Resurrecti.on I shall
receive the same again by the mighty power. of . ~od And as touching such worldly estate wherewith i~ has pleased
God to bless me in this life I give, devise, and dispose of the
sai~e in the following mariner and formFirst- I give unto mY oldest son, Peter Barriclanan, the sum

widow4ood to bring up, give schooling and maintain her children
upon and at her death that the whole of the movables shall be equally
divided amongst my four sons and two daughters that now lives in my
house with me. Nevertheless if any of the older of these six children shall want any of my mova~les that my wife can spare that they
shall have them and that said articles shall be appraised and be··
deducted out of their shares in the divident at the death of their
mother- And where.as I the said Peter Barrickman have .bought- & took
up sundry tracts of land in this ·c ountry if said land is transferred
to me and my heirs . by the Lord of the
I dispose of it in
manner and form follo~ing that is to · sayTo my wife as above wr·itten and that the second eldest of my
six children now living· with me . or any of them of an after another
as they shall stand in need shall have their shares laid . off. to them
in equal proportion as honest men shall judge chosen by my executors
for th~t purpose & and if it so happen that their only Eight hundred
shall be held that it shall be equaily divided amongst my four sons
& two daughters that now living with. me in my house, their mother
taking her share as above written and so in a less proportion, I do
also constitute my wife & my son Abraham the sole executors of this
my last Will & Testament and I do hereby disallow, revoke and dis~
anull all and every other testaments, Wills, Legacies, beques·t s and
executors Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last
Will and Testament.
