FAIRFH:LD COUNTY INDIAN AID SOCIETY.
A number of
ladies of Fairfield County met at Southport on the 31st of }vfarch,
and formed themselves into a Society for aiding Indian Missions.
It consists of all persons who shall contribute not less than One
Dollar annually to its funds. I ts officers include twp managers,
annually appointed, from each parish, who meet when s.ummoned to do so. It is recommended to the ladies of this parish,
as a prnctical way of carrying out tl1is work, to contribute

citizens, and those who have had the management of it know, better than any one else, how useful a~ agency for the mental and
moral improvement of many young men has been withdrawn
from its work in this community.

This will be nlaced in the Library Room of the Chapel, and a
catalogue printed, including also the books in the Sunday-school
Library, and those in the Lloyd Library. The Lloyd Library,
founded by Henry Lloyd, A. D. I 795, for the use of the rector
and parishioners, contains many valuable books, chiefly theological and historical, which may he had on application to the Rector.
These librari es may be made much more useful than they have
heen, and donations for their improvement will be carefully applied.
The Pnrish and Sunday-school Libraries will be open after
Evening Prayer on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

THE CHURCH READING ROOM AND LIBRARY
has been discontinued for the present. It was found that the
donations and subscriptions for its support were not adequate
to keep it in really efficient working order, and the Committee
were unanimous that it was better to close it than to let it run
down. It was closed, therefore, November 1st, and the books
&c., divided between the two parishes in a general proportion to
the expense which had been borne by each. Since its discontinuance, many regrets have been expressed by parishioners. and

THE female members of the congregation are earnestly invited
to become members of the Charitable Society, for the assistan ce

Society, which is working, in various ways, to aid the missionaries of the Church. If they will turn once more to the pages
on which are found the necessary information in regard to the
purposes and methods of these two Societies, they will then be
able to decide whether they can and ought, in addition to their
individual charities, to sustain these organized ·charities of their
parish, an d enable them to enlarge their usefulness.
